2024 Musical Concept and Writing has begun

Swind, crossover, hybrid, orchestral, rock

Writing has begun on KPB Theatre's 2024 Musical.  The story is promising to be magical and the song list and music score will be the biggest and most challenging musical landscape ever attempted by KPB Theatre.  The process starts with understanding the story, voice ranges and addressing the technical "hows" of producing a live hybrid musical score.  I'm super excited and I know that the time will fly!

Life - Award winning Documentary Feature

Orchestral, Electronica, Emotional, Documentary Score

Life follows some families in the aftermath of the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami.  This is a feature length score and as part of preparation for this I walked through the Tohoku area and met some of the people who were affected by this disaster.  The score is simple, with signs of darkness but also an overall feeling of hope for the future.

Cinesamples & Tina Guo Composing Contest 2021

Orchestral, Cello, Emotional, Epic, Royal

My Dear Friend was entered into the Cinesamples and Tina Guo composing contest 2021.

Originally composed on the piano it is a work in progress and will end up as longer piece of music.  For now the contest gave me the chance to lift the music from my mind and place it into an orchestral arrangement.

SAVE ME - Short Film Score

SPRK MUSIC / AWFF – Film Scoring Competition 2021

Orchestral, Cello, Emotional, Asian, Score

The brief for this contest was to watch the short film "SAVE ME" and write a fitting score.

The only precedent was to use at least one asian sounding instrument in the score.

In my score I interpreted the story to be about survival, where a mother bear and cub are up against the odds of survival in a hunter infested world.

The score contains Japanese Koto, Taiko, aspects of Indian percussion, Atmospheric pads and Cello with orchestra.

Puzzle - Main Theme

Jazz Colle. Dance Company

Orchestral, Vocal, Emotional, dance, theme

The theme for Puzzle plays through the show in different arrangements.  Here you can hear and see the finale of the show.  This had to be grand, powerful and emotional.  The score was later sped up in tempo during the dance rehearsal and is faster than originally written.
